HYDERABAD: Though the government has fixed Jan. 27 as the cut-off date for publication of the second list of selected candidates for B.Ed. admissions in minority colleges of education, some of these institutions have yet to announce even the first list.
Although the counselling for B.Ed. admissions has been completed through convenor, Education Combined Entrance Test (Edcet-2002), many Muslim candidates are still running around minority colleges for admissions.
1x1 polls
The aggrieved students have submitted representations demanding the restoration of admissions only through Edcet and action against Muslim minority educational institutes which have held entrance tests of their own.
Some Muslim colleges have published the first list with the range of ranks in various subjects, but the students who have secured ranks within this range have not been called for counselling.
For instance, a minority college at Siddipet has published the first list of selected candidates for social studies indicating the rank range from 2,146 to 13,637. But when a candidate, Shaik Syed Babu who had secured 13,042 rank in Edcet approached the college, he was denied counselling.
Some minority colleges which conducted separate entrance tests have yet to publish the first list of selected candidates. At one minority educational institution at Nalgonda, candidates boycotted the separate entrance test terming it a farce.
The government order (GO Rt No 831, dated Dec. 29) issued after the Supreme Court judgement on admissions in minority institutions, directs the colleges to follow cut-off date schedule for counselling and admissions. But as many as 10 minority colleges have gone against the decree.
